"Pua Hihia," meaning "tangled blossoms" in Hawaiian, is a piece of sculptural lighted art by Julie Scheyer.
Fits any lamp with a harp: simply set it on a lamp you already have at home and it becomes a glowing sculpture.
At Martin & MacArthur, my shades are sold on bases they make from koa wood, crafted by their skilled craftsmen and artists.
Abstract pink forms, inspired by plumeria and the loose drape of a lei, drift through layers of ocean blue. Because the shade is sculpted rather than flat, it changes as you turn it: every angle and every lighting moment reveals a different arrangement of blossoms. Lit from within, the colors glow softly, like a Maui evening.
"Pua Hihia" recently found its forever home through Martin & MacArthur in The Shops at Wailea. It's shown here as an example of my work. Each piece is one of a kind, and I'd love to talk with you about a similar piece or a commission.
This piece has sold, but similar works can be commissioned. Message me to inquire.
You can see my work in person at four Martin & MacArthur stores: The Shops at Wailea, Whalers Village, the Grand Hyatt Kauai, and Ala Moana on Oʻahu.
